To cancel Telenet, call 0800 66 350 (free) or fill in Telenet's online cancellation form, then send back your modem and TV box via PostNL. Cancelling is free in most cases: Telenet has no contract duration for internet, landline, mobile, the TV box or TV channels, so you only pay for a streaming add on in its first 30 days or for a phone you are still paying off. Switching to another operator? Do not cancel your mobile line yourself, because your number goes with it. Let your new operator take over your number and close the old contract. Below you find the steps, the costs, what to return and what to do with bundles, add ons and a move.
How to cancel Telenet: step by step
Start with the channel that matches what you want to stop. Telenet handles a full cancellation by phone or through its form, and smaller changes in MyTelenet:
Channel | Use it for | Details |
|---|---|---|
Phone: 0800 66 350 | Cancelling a full subscription | Free, Monday to Friday 8:00 to 20:00, Saturday 9:00 to 18:00 |
Cancelling without waiting on the phone | Telenet calls you back, the cancellation takes about two days | |
MyTelenet app or website | Stopping options and streaming services | Self service, no call needed |
Email: services@telenetgroup.be | A written cancellation without a stamp | Telenet calls you back within five working days, so add your phone number |
Letter | Written proof of the date | Telenet, Liersesteenweg 4, 2800 Mechelen |
Telenet shop | Handing in your devices | Expect long waiting times |
Then follow these steps:
Check MyTelenet for your subscriptions, any phone you are paying off and your Easy Switch ID.
Switching? Sign up with the new operator first, so your internet and number move without a gap.
Cancel by phone, by form, by email or by letter, and keep the confirmation.
Return your devices once the cancellation is processed.
Check your final bill for device charges or double billing.
Can you cancel your Telenet subscription online?
Yes, through the online form, which leads to a callback within two days. MyTelenet itself only lets you stop options and streaming services, not your whole subscription. Telenet's terms accept a cancellation by any written means, so an email to services@telenetgroup.be also works, but Telenet only calls back within five working days, which makes the form the faster written option.
What does cancelling Telenet cost?
When you cancel Telenet, the cancellation itself costs nothing. You only pay in the situations below:
Situation | What you pay |
|---|---|
Internet, landline, mobile, TV box or TV channels | Nothing, there is no contract duration |
Streaming service (Streamz, Play Sports and others) in its first 30 days | The remaining days of that first period |
Phone bought through Telenet Klantenprijs | The remaining device value from your contract table, never after 24 months |
Older contract with a fixed term, cancelled within six months | At most the subscription fees up to month six |
Devices not returned | A fixed compensation set by Telenet |
The last two rows come from Belgian law: an operator may never charge a fee to cancel a contract of indefinite duration or a fixed term contract that is at least six months old, as the Belgian telecom regulator BIPT explains.
Does the six month rule apply to you?
Only if you have an older or promotional contract with a fixed term. Belgian law (article 111/3 of the electronic communications act of 13 June 2005) lets an operator charge an early termination fee only in the first six months of a fixed term contract, and never more than the subscription fees up to month six. Telenet now sells internet, landline, mobile and TV without a contract duration, so most customers can cancel at any time without that fee. Not sure which contract you have? Your contract and your invoice show whether it runs for a fixed or an indefinite term.
Telenet notice period
There is none. Telenet processes a cancellation as soon as it is technically possible, and a request through the form is handled within about two days. If you switch operator, you choose the date yourself, so your old service stops on the day the new one starts.
What to return to Telenet
Return every rented device, because returning them is a separate step from cancelling and Telenet charges a fixed fee for devices it never gets back:
Device | What goes in the box | What you keep |
|---|---|---|
Modem | Modem and power cable | Coax cable and the network splitter on the wall |
TV box or Digicorder | TV box, remote control and power cable | HDMI and coax cable |
Wifi pods and boosters | Pods or boosters and their power cables | Nothing |
Print the return label in MyTelenet and drop the parcel at a PostNL point, which is the only free way to send it back. A very old modem of type CH6643E goes to your local recycling park instead.
Cancelling part of a bundle or an add on
Cancelling Telenet internet but keeping mobile
Customers on an older ONE or ONEup bundle can no longer remove internet or mobile from the pack. To keep one and stop the other, you move to Telenet's current offer, where each service is a separate subscription, and then cancel the part you no longer need.
Add ons: Play Sports and Streamz
Stop streaming services yourself in MyTelenet. Each one has a 30 day minimum, after which you can cancel for free. Streamz and Play Sports stop immediately, while Netflix and Disney+ run until the end of the month.
Moving house or leaving Belgium
Telenet moves with you within Flanders, but check first whether Telenet is available at your new address in Brussels or Wallonia. If it is not, or if you leave Belgium, cancel Telenet as described above and return your devices before you go. Your telenet.be email address stays available after you cancel, but Telenet can delete the mailbox if you do not send any emails from it for two years.
Switching? Don't cancel your mobile line first
Keep your Telenet line active until the new operator has taken over your number, and only then let the old contract end. In Belgium you always keep your mobile number when you switch: you sign a request with the new operator, and the new operator moves your number and closes your Telenet contract for you. Cancel the line yourself first and the number goes back to the operator. See our guide on how to keep your number when you change mobile providers.
For internet and TV, use Easy Switch: give the new operator the Easy Switch ID from your Telenet bill or MyTelenet, and it cancels your Telenet services on the date you choose. When you move at least your internet or TV, Easy Switch can also cover your mobile lines and landline. If a number arrives later than the agreed date, you can claim €3 per day from your new operator within six months.
Also leaving BASE, which belongs to the Telenet Group? It has its own process, explained in our guide on how to cancel BASE.
Telecom that works for you
Leaving an operator should take one form, not an afternoon. Firsty is building telecom that works for you, not against you: no SIM card to swap, no roaming setting to remember, no zone chart to check and no surprise bill. Every connection Firsty sells also connects someone in Belgium who needs it, not as charity, but as how the business works. Have a look at the Firsty plans for Belgium, and keep an eye on what Firsty is building, because things are moving. Discover more at Firsty.app.
FAQ
Can I cancel Telenet anytime?
Yes. Telenet has no contract duration for internet, landline, mobile, the TV box or TV channels, so you can cancel whenever you want without a fee. Only streaming services have a 30 day minimum, and a phone bought through Telenet Klantenprijs can leave a remaining device value to pay.
What is the Telenet customer service phone number?
For cancellations, call Telenet free on 0800 66 350, Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 20:00 and on Saturday from 9:00 to 18:00. For other questions, Telenet's general customer service number is 015 66 66 66.
Does Telenet charge a cancellation fee?
No, not for the subscription itself. You only pay the remaining days of a streaming service in its first 30 days, the remaining value of a phone you are paying off, or a fixed fee for rented devices you do not return.
How do I cancel my Telenet subscription by email?
Send your cancellation to services@telenetgroup.be and include your customer number and phone number, because Telenet answers emails with a callback within five working days. The online cancellation form is faster, with a callback and the cancellation sorted within about two days.
Can I keep my number when I leave Telenet?
Yes. Ask your new operator to take over your number before you cancel anything, and it will close your Telenet line on the transfer date. If you cancel the line yourself first, you lose the number.
What happens if I don't return my Telenet modem?
Telenet charges a fixed compensation for every rented device it does not get back, such as the modem, TV box or wifi pods. Print the return label in MyTelenet and send the devices free of charge via a PostNL point.
Can I keep my telenet.be email address after cancelling?
Yes. Under Telenet's terms, your mailbox and email addresses stay available after your contract ends. Telenet can delete the mailbox if you do not send any emails from it for two years.
